Hard Head...Literally.

Our little Jake seems to always be bumping his head. This has been happening since he learned to crawl. It is so bad that he has calcium deposits on his head. They look like little horns. He is referred to as our little devil at times. Well this past week, his head could not take it anymore.  Another trip to Instacare for stitches, so we thought, but the cut was perfect for glue.  Thank goodness!  I don't think we could have held him down for stitches.

What a way to start Summer Break!

We had planned for some time to go over Memorial Day weekend to visit family and do some spring blue gill fishing (suppose to be lots of fun). It was the last day of school and the kids were excited to go to Grandpa and Grandma's. I had the car all packed and we were just waiting for Jonathan to get home from work. The kids decided to ride their bikes.

Alexis was in the house getting somethings to take to Grandma's. When she saw I was taking pictures, she wanted to ride her bike as well. She got on her bike. I got the camera ready. When I hear a scream of extreme pain. I look up and Alexis is laying on the grass with her bike on top. I rush over and right away I know something is messed up with her arm. Jonathan pulls in and we are on our way to instacare instead of Grandpa and Grandma's. We still have high hopes of going on our little trip. We will just leave in the morning.

Her arm is broken right above the elbow. She needs to see a orthopedic surgeon. Since it was Friday evening and a holiday weekend either she had to wait until Tuesday when Doctor offices are open or take her to the ER on Saturday. By Saturday morning, after a sleepless night, Alexis and I took a trip to Primary Childrens hospital.

We waited all day for an opening in the OR, so she could have surgery to set it and put pins in.

One week later...cast...Pink. She told her cousins, "I just couldn't resist."

One week after that...Fever of a 104. Back to the Doctors office afraid of infection. Ends up being a bad stomach bug. Gets to change cast color...Orange?

Yesterday...Cast and pins removed.

There is a blessing with all of this...First, she was not hurt any worse and second our basement started to flood the next day after she broke her arm.  If we would have been out visiting our family, it would have ruined everything in the basement. 

School's Out

Alexis has learned a lot in 1st Grade.  She enjoyed her teacher Mr. Carter and loved being with her friends.  She loves to read and write.  She enjoys reading the little house on the praire series and what ever else she can get her hands on.  She is our little family historian.  She writes down everything that happens whether it is for church, family home evening, or just the happenings of the day.  She is excited to be in 2nd Grade.

Piano Recital

Since last August, Alexis has been taking piano lessons.  She loves to go and has shoen real talent.  In March, she had a piano recital.  She played Waltz of the Flower by Peter Tchaikovsky.  She did very well.

Jake... 10 months

Our little Jake is growing up so fast. He is learning new things everyday. his next mile stone is walking. He is ready to be running with his brother and sister. Wow, how time flies!

Alexis, a Kindergarten Graduate!

Alexis is offically a Kindergarten Graduate. We are so proud of her. She is a great student and has learned so many new things this passed school year. First Grade, here she comes!

Cinco de Mayo

We started celebrating Cinco de Mayo quite a few years ago. We always eat some mexican food, wear big hats, and hit a pinata. Our whole family loves this holiday.

After a false trip to the hospital on Sunday September 20, he came on the day the doctor had chosen for him. Thank goodness... once the medicine kicked in the labor (an all day process), labor itself was only about an hour. We would have not made it to the hospital if we would have waited for him to come on his own. Its about a 40 minute drive.

Coming up with a name for him took a whole lot longer then actually getting him here. We had decided a while back his middle name would be Edward... after Jonathan's middle name and his Grandpa Edward (aka. Eddie). We had a long list of names...really good names that sounded good with Edward, but after 6 days of calling him all of those names even some not on the list... Jacob is the one we feel fits him best. (No influence of Twilight what so ever!)

He is a little angel. He is a very content baby. He sleeps, eats, relaxes (in mom or dad's arms, of course), and gets lots of kisses and touches from his older sister and brother. His very favorite thing is to have his hair comb with the tooth brush the hospital gave him.

Our New Home

We did it. We finally found a place to call our own. It is a 3 bedroom 2 bath home, with lots of room to grow in the basement. It is a little closer to Jonathan's work, so that means we see a little more of him, which we love. We are glad we got moved in before the baby arrived. There are still lots of boxes to unpack, but we'll get it eventually. I hope we don't move for a while...I am tired of moving.

Can you believe we have a kindergartner? I can't. Today was Alexis' first day at school. She loves it, of course. She did so well going in hanging up her back pack and finding her name on the table. She looked so grown up. I have to admit I did pretty well too, no tears.

A brother who missed her so much!

A glimps of our soon new arrival...

We are so lucky to have a sister-in-law who does ultra-sounds for a living. She always asks if we want to do one, and come on now, who doesn't want to see what is going on in the 3 ft ball that is always moving in front of you. This time we saw him kick himself in the face with his foot and using his tongue to swallow. He is about 34 weeks:

Summer Bounty!

Before....

Jonathan has worked so hard on our garden this year. We have been able to have corn on the cob, cucumbers, tomatoes, zucchini, summer squash, carrots, onions, peas, spinach and almost watermelon and cantaloupe. We have been so blessed by his hard work.

After....

Fishing with Uncle Travis

Over the 4th of July, we had a family reunion in the mountains. All Dallin could talk about was going fishing. When we arrived at the lake, Dallin bailed out of the car and started stealing every one's fishing poles. He wanted to catch a "Big One." He was not too successful. So Uncle Travis took Dallin, Alexis, Ashley and Jonathan for ride out into the middle of the lake to catch a "Big One". I guess when they got out in the middle Dallin was more worried about the sharks then catching the "Big One"... and when they did catch a fish, he was scared it was a Shark. He still talks about going fishing, but he must just prefer it at the shore.

It was the summer company party. What a perfect day to go to the zoo... Low 70's, cloud cover and only the people Jonathan works with were there. The kids thought it was a lot of fun to see all the animals. They especially loved to see the new baby giraffe. It was its first appearance for us. But of course the biggest hit was the unlimited rides on the train and carousel.

What has been happening with the Dansie's?

Since I am such a slacker and have not blogged for a few months, I have missed sharing some fun and exciting things that have been happening at the Dansie's. In January, we moved into a fantastic house to rent until we find a house to buy. It was just finished being built, so we are the first to live in it. It has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and a place for everything. We love it! Actually, we love it so much, we offered to buy it... but it is on family property with lots of sentimental value. So we will continue to look.




In Feburary, Alexis started preschool in utah. She was a little nervous, but excited as while. We also celebrated Alexis' 5th birthday. We can hardly believe she is 5, even though she acts like a teenager sometimes. My sister and her family came for dinner and brought Alexis in blindfolded. Her expression when the blindfold was taken off, was worth all of the work to get it decorated. Her cousin JR spent the whole afternoon making her a birthday crown, so she would look like a princess. When it was all finished, she told me she wants to be surprised every year and then continued with a long list of things I will need to do to make it just right. She is our special girl. We love her very much!



In March, both Jonathan and I celebrated our birthdays. My parents came and stayed for a few days to help celebrate my birthday. Jonathan's was complete with all of his favorite foods. Steak and shrimp. Well maybe not all of his favorite foods, but some.


April, the weather began to warm up. So for Easter, my sister and I decided to have an Easter picnic in the mountains. It was a beautiful day for lunch, hiking, playing games and of course a easter egg hunt. I love living close to family!



May has been a very busy month. We have been able to plant a garden...Jonathan has been so excited he planted seed clear back in the beginning of March and put them under lights down stairs. He even made a detailed design on the computer of where every plant would be planted. It is starting to grow well, but so are the weeds. We also had our first offical BBQ of the Summer. That is one nice looking hamburger, don't you think?


Alexis graduated from preschool and would not let me take any pictures of her with her knowing. She was sad to leave preschool, but is looking forward to kindergarten.



We also had a opportunity to go to my parents house to help brand the calves. As a little girl, this was one of my favorite times of the year. We always got the job of pushing the calves up to the branding shoot. We would get kicked, crapped on, toes mashed... but we still loved it. I guess it also helped that Uncle Dale brought lots of pop. Well this year, there was not to may kids that were big enough, strong enough,willing or able to get in with the calves, so Jonathan (my big, strong, willing and able husband) got this job. He looked and smelled fantastic when he was finished. I was able to doctor a few calves, give them a pill or two. Which brings me to the last thing that happened in May...


I would have been in with Jonathan pushing the calves to the shoot, but he would not let me and I don't think the Doctor would have approved, since we found out we are having another boy due around the first of October. We are excited and a little nervous to have three running around. Remember I only have two hands. But Alexis has already been showing us, she is a big sister and little mother.

Christmas Wishes!

We had a great Christmas this year. We shopped in Salt Lake on Christmas Eve for all of the last minute items, which was about everything. We had a yummy dinner that my sister slaved over while we were shopping. We then opened our Christmas PJ's and read some Christmas stories just like Mom does every year. We put the kids (my sisters and ours) in bed all in the same room... It reminded me of when I was growing up, all seven of us in a bedroom laughing all night and asking Dad if we can get up every 15 minutes. By 5:30, he finally lets us get up. We could not where our PJ's into where Santa had been, we had to be dressed, teeth brushed, hair done...everything but have breakfast. They did try to one year, but it didn't go over very well. Anyway, this year it was not the kids asking to get up... it was Uncle Justin. I went up to the bathroom around 4:30 and Justin came up and woke up the kids. It was fun to see him so excited. All the kids lined up in the hall youngest to oldest and went to see what Santa had brought them. The rest of the day was spent playing with the things Santa brought, playing games and relaxing... Of course, Justin got in his nap! We all got our Christmas wishes!
